Advancing Myopia Management on a Global Scale

In 2024, EssilorLuxottica proudly equipped even more children with myopia management solutions, making significant strides in its mission to slow myopia progression and promote better eye health for future generations.

Leading the Global Dialogue on Myopia

With strong presence again this year, EssilorLuxottica actively lead the global myopia conversation, sharing expertise and the latest insights at key international congresses, including ARVO, WCPOS, IMC 2024 and EAOO 2024. During these important scientific events, the Group presented its five-year clinical trial results for Essilor Stellest lenses, which show the long-term efficacy of the lenses, holistic myopia management solutions, advances in clinical refraction, new research on the effectiveness of highly aspherical lenslets (HAL) as well as innovations and future directions for myopia management.

Expanding Myopia Management Solutions

The Group broadened its myopia management offering by introducing Essilor Stellest lenses with sun tints for outdoor protection and extending its clear spectacle lens range to better meet the needs of more children and teenagers with myopia.

It also marked a major milestone with a ‘Breakthrough Devices’ designation granted to SightGlass Vision – EssilorLuxottica’s myopia management joint venture with CooperCompanies – by the US Food and Drug Administration for its Diffusion Optics Technology (DOT) spectacle lenses designed to slow myopia progression in children. DOT spectacle lenses also completed a successful expansion in China with both Nikon and Kodak.

Strengthening Partnerships & Supporting ECPs

EssilorLuxottica continued to drive myopia awareness and education by further strengthening alliances with its key global partners: the International Myopia Institute (IMI), Myopia Profile, the Global Myopia Awareness Coalition, the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus and the Review of Myopia Management. The Group was a Platinum sponsor during Myopia Action Month 2024 and also participated in the inaugural edition of the Euretina Special Focus Meeting, which is dedicated to advancing evidence-based science on myopia.

In addition, the Eyestar Mission educational program, which helps fight myopia with a positive approach by empowering children to take ownership of their vision care, was successfully delivered and received very positive feedback in a number of countries.

Through its Leonardo learning platform, the Group also provided eye care professionals (ECPs) with novel resources on myopia management based on evidence and research from EssilorLuxottica and renowned international experts, including a three-module course and a video covering the latest scientific highlights for Essilor Stellest lenses.

Stay tuned in 2025 for more myopia management solutions to come!
